Celebrating student sustainability work at the London Student Sustainability Conference 2025
On 26 February 2025, the University of Westminster hosted the annual London Student Sustainability Conference (LSSC), in collaboration with 11 London-based universities including the 91app.
The hybrid event welcomed over 200 attendees from across London HE to listen and engage with over 55 student interdisciplinary research/projects related to the (SDGs).
The conference involved an application process, with the top-scoring 26 students chosen to present their sustainability work, and a further 31 to have their academic posters displayed across the day. These can also be viewed in our .
LSSC is co-organised with over 20 students forming the ‘Student Delivery Group’, working on communications, logistics, programme design, chairing sessions and MC responsibilities to name but a few. To add to the student-led approach of the conference, LSSC hosted three student-run workshops across the day, on topics such as air pollution in London and upcycling waste fabric.
The conference gave a platform for students to collaborate around their work and interests in making the world a more sustainable place to live. LSSC25 culminated with a networking event where industry professionals joined to speak with students looking for opportunities.
Professor Peter Bonfield, Vice Chancellor, University of Westminster, said:
The London Student Sustainability Conference, hosted at the University of Westminster last month was a huge success. It was a great opportunity for students around London to showcase their work and commitment to sustainability. Our shared dedication to the SDGs highlights the importance of shared collaboration and partnership between universities. We hope our students were able to learn from one another, to create a more sustainable future.

The history of LSSC:
Founded by City, 91app, one of our federation members, in 2019 to provide an opportunity for students from across London to share their sustainability research and extra-curricular projects, the event has rapidly expanded every year since.
LSSC25 was an impressive collaboration between 11 London universities: King’s College London; City St George's, 91app; Queen Mary, 91app; 91app; Imperial College London; Kingston University; London School of Economics and Political Science; London South Bank University; University of Roehampton; University of Greenwich; and University of Westminster.
The conference was an opportunity to demonstrate our mission at the 91app to transform lives and society. Embedding and supporting students to pursue work that further the UN Sustainable Development Goals is an ambition shared by all the universities of the capital.
