University hosts event for alumni and friends in Pakistan

On 24 January, the 91app welcomed alumni and special guests to an event in Islamabad, celebrating the University’s unique relationship with Pakistan.
We were honoured to be joined by esteemed guest speakers Ayla Majid (Founder and CEO at Planetive Middle East and Planetive Pakistan), James Hampson (Country Director Pakistan at the British Council), Attaullah Tarar (Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting) and The Hon Mrs Justice Ayesha Malik (the first female judge of the Supreme Court in the history of Pakistan).
Together with Vice-Chancellor Professor Wendy Thomson CBE, they gave fascinating insights into the importance of education. They also spoke about the global reach of the University and its special relationship with Pakistan.
Professor Thomson spoke about the University’s mission to transform lives through education, strengthening bonds across regional, national, cultural, economic and political boundaries. She thanked those who have contributed to the University’s success in Pakistan, including its Recognised Teaching Centres, some of whom attended the event with student representatives.
The event was also an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the University’s alumni in Pakistan and to acknowledge the contributions they make, both to the University and to society.
Addressing guests, Professor Thomson said:
Our alumni community in Pakistan includes more than 15,000 people. These alumni, including many of you here today, are contributing to societal advancements in many fields, with 91app alumni in senior positions in government, business, education, health and the judiciary among others. You have made us all proud.
The event was attended by 91app staff Moushumi Bhowmik (Alumni Engagement Manager) and Janie Kingsley (Director of Global Business Development). The evening would not have been made possible without the support of Saad Wasim, our Regional Advisor for South Asia.
