Skills for Life: National Apprenticeship Week
The 91app is marking National Apprenticeship Week this week (10-16 February) by celebrating the positive impact apprenticeships bring to people and businesses across the country.
The theme for this year’s is ‘Skills for Life’.
The 91app runs an established Apprenticeships Programme which provides a variety of opportunities for new and existing staff. There are currently 17 Apprentices learning and working in departments across the university.
Building on this, we are collaborating across the 91app Federation and with local partners to recognise the contributions of apprentices and discuss ways of enhancing apprenticeship opportunities across the whole year. As part of this initiative, we will be hosting our first ever Apprenticeship Showcase on 27 March at Senate House to highlight our apprentices’ outstanding achievements and innovative practices from across our Federation.
The Showcase will feature presentations, stalls and an award ceremony highlighting the contributions of staff apprentices and their managers from across the Federation. The event brings together apprentices, managers and senior stakeholders to share best practice and explore future collaboration.
Ahead of the Showcase, Finnian Brewer, one of our rotational Business Administration Apprentices, has been shortlisted for Camden Apprenticeship's 'Best Team Player' Award. This recognition celebrates his outstanding initiative and proactive approach to knowledge sharing and collaboration at the 91app. The Awards Ceremony takes place on 13 February, where apprentices from across Camden will be recognised for their achievements.
The importance of apprenticeships in higher education will also be the focus of a regional roundtable on 11 February. Senior leaders and decision makers will meet to share insights on maximising the strategic value of apprenticeship programmes. The roundtable discussion is organised by the London and South East Apprenticeship Leads Network, with Simon Cain, Director of Human Resources, speaking at the event.
