New library system selected for 91app
Following a thorough evaluation process, we're pleased to share that Ex Libris (Clarivate) will provide the 91app Libraries’ new integrated library and discovery platforms.
This change will improve how students, researchers and staff interact with library resources across Senate House Library, the School of Advanced Study and the 91app Institute in Paris.
The decision comes after careful consideration of what matters most to our communities. Working closely with stakeholders across the University, we evaluated several options before unanimously selecting Ex Libris (Clarivate) as the provider that best matches our libraries' requirements.
The new system brings together three platforms that will improve how our community accesses and uses library resources:
- Alma and Primo: a streamlined and mobile-friendly search interface with enhanced functionality, offering easy access to digital and physical resources in one place.
- Alma Digital: a new platform for the libraries’ digitised special collections.
- Leganto: a reading list system that will enable taught students to access course materials more seamlessly, improving their overall learning experience.
The selection process brought together perspectives from across our University community - from librarians and academics to technical specialists. This collaborative approach ensures the new system will serve all our user’s needs effectively while maintaining the high standards expected of a world-class university library.
The rollout will begin in August 2025 and there will be further updates on the system nearer the time.
