Birkbeck was founded in 1823 and joined the 91app in 1920. While all of Birkbeck's classes run in the evenings, many are also held during the day. This means that for many of its programmes students can build their own timetable, choosing on a module-by-module basis whether to come to class in the day or in the evening, allowing them to fit their learning around work or other commitments.

Over 90 per cent of Birkbeck academics are research-active and many are renowned experts in their fields.

Programmes are offered across the humanities, social sciences, business, law and science.

Undergraduate students can complete in 3, 4 or 6 years, at a pace that suits them. Applications are encouraged from students without traditional qualifications and a wide range of programmes are offered to suit every entry level, with many bursaries and scholarships on offer.

The main campus is located in the heart of Bloomsbury, surrounded by world-famous museums and galleries with the West End, Soho, Covent Garden and King’s Cross on your doorstep.
