A historic London landmark, Senate House has lent its striking architectural features and vibrant outdoor spaces to countless creative visions and dramatic transformations, from glamorous runways to immersive film sets and large-scale conferences.  

Its grand halls have served as storied backdrops to Hollywood productions, London Fashion Week shows, and major corporate events, combining versatility with a unique Art Deco design and central London location. 

It’s within this dynamic environment that our new event manager Marzena Esposito thrives. A valued member of the team since joining in 2024, she has planned and managed some of London’s most memorable events with guest lists of more than 1,500 people. 

She brings a wealth of experience to the position from her previous roles at Imperial College London and the InterContinental Hotels Group.  

She has been inspired by the enduring charm of Senate House’s Crush Hall and ceremonial stairs. “I love how Crush Hall acts as a complementary space for both Beveridge Hall and Macmillan Hall. It seamlessly applies a sense of elegance and sophistication before guests even step into the main event areas. There's something truly special about the way the architecture fosters an atmosphere of anticipation and excitement. 

“The staircase in the Senate House is another highlight for me. Its grand design adds a level of sophistication and creates an impressive transition between floors. It's not just a passage; it feels like a beautiful element of the building’s history and character. I find that spaces like these enhance the overall experience of attending events, making them feel more memorable and significant. Together, Crush Hall and the staircase reflect the rich heritage and aesthetic beauty of Senate House, making them my favourite places to be,” she says. 

Collaborating to deliver exceptional events  

 Collaboration with the hospitality and audio-visual departments is an essential part of creating seamless experiences for clients. She maintains regular contact with both teams to share objectives, anticipate challenges and adjust plans if necessary – and crucially, learn from each event.  

“I make it a priority to gather feedback from both the hospitality and AV teams after each event. This collaborative approach not only enhances our planning for future events but also helps identify areas for improvement. By fostering strong relationships and maintaining clear communication channels across departments, we can collectively deliver exceptional events that meet and exceed client expectations,” she explains.  

She has worked on a hugely diverse range of events – from an outdoor festival that drew 1,500 people to the University, to a dinner paying homage to Viking traditions and culinary flavours in which guests were immersed in a rich historical experience.  

“Each event, regardless of scale or format, allows me to express creativity, attention to detail, and passion for bringing people together. I thrive on the excitement of transforming ideas into reality, making every event a new adventure that I cherish,” she says. 

In 2025, she is looking forward to planning an awards summer ball in Gordon Square Garden and is working with a supplier to install a large marquee and outdoor stage. “We're anticipating around 3,000 participants – all depending on the weather, of course!  

“The prospect of bringing together such a large group for an unforgettable celebration is truly remarkable, and I can't wait to see it all come to life,” she says.
